Cannabis is complicated right now.
Kannaboom is here to simplify things, with reliable information about how cannabis can help your everyday wellness. We also curate the best CBD and cannabis products for people who want to save time and stress.
Whether you’re using CBD to treat insomnia, anxiety, aches and pains or many other conditions, and whether you want to smoke, vape, eat, drink, rub it in or slap on a transdermal patch, we’re here to help you make better decisions as we approach the end of the cannabis prohibition era.
Not all CBD is created equal: how we decide what to recommend
There has been an explosion in the availability of hemp-derived CBD products, and some are better than others. For any substance you are ingesting, there are health considerations, and you want to make sure you’re getting good value. We recommend CBD products after looking at available data and experiencing the products ourselves.
Some things we look for, from the companies themselves, and from other sites that rate CBD and other products, before we review a product:
— Certification by U.S. Hemp Authority or other certifying bodies
— Certificates of Analysis (COAs) of products
— A volume of positive, likely authentic reviews
— At least two years in business and a verifiable location
— A commitment to social good
— Sound value, in the form of a price-per-milligram ratio that is reasonable compared to competing products
We don’t accept advertising. We do have affiliate relationships.
We all know that most advertising is bullshit. That’s why we don’t play that game. Instead we point you to documented best CBD companies out there — a handful among the 3,000+ now selling CBD.
As an affiliate of these certified CBD companies, we may earn an affiliate commission when you buy from them. We research products carefully, and try them before we recommend them. The point is to make it easier for you to make better decisions about CBD and cannabis products that help you live a better life. The products we recommend are the ones we’ve chosen for ourselves and our family and friends.

Who’s behind Kannaboom?
I’m Tom. I was trained as a journalist and worked for a while in newspapers as a reporter and editor, and as a marketing copywriter. One of my freelance positions was for a company selling CBD oil (years ago, before CBD became the new pumpkin spice). I learned that CBD was saving children from the horrible seizure disorder known as Dravet’s Syndrome, and this opened my eyes to other medicinal applications.
I realized that prohibition and the social stigma around cannabis have caused a lot of suffering, probably in your family as well as mine. In my case:
— My younger brother died from complications of epilepsy, which he contracted after sustaining a head injury in a car accident. By complications, I mean the toxic anti-seizure drugs they gave him, in dosages that eventually knocked out his liver and killed him on Christmas night, 1991. This led to my becoming a cannabis advocate. We now know that cannabis is a neuroprotectant and antispasmodic. Had scientific research been allowed from the 1930s, we would have known that cannabis is an effective treatment for both head injuries and epilepsy, and my brother would probably still be alive today.
— My mother passed away in 2020 from Alzheimer’s Disease. We know from the work of scientists at the Salk Institute and others that cannabis can protect older brains from the ravages of the amyloid plaque that causes Alzheimer’s. But it definitely was not allowed in my mom’s nursing home. It’s heart-wrenching and infuriating to see the layered corruption and stupidity of cannabis prohibition when it’s a safe and effective medicine that could relieve suffering.
— My father had cancer, which metastasized from his prostate into his bones. He endured chemotherapy. He also took CBD and some THC. There is a growing body of evidence that cannabis has anti-tumor properties and can help fight cancer. I asked his doctors about CBD and cannabis as anti-cancer medicines, and they did not have a clue.
We don’t know enough yet about the medicinal properties of cannabis. There’s a lot of research that still needs to be done. But here’s one thing I know: If we had a sane, evidence-based cannabis policy in this country, it might well have saved members of my family — and yours — from horrendous pain and suffering.
This is what motivates me to spread the message. Cannabis is a safe and effective personalized medicine for a variety of conditions, and a tool for achieving better wellness.
